What is NewTales?
NewTales is an AI audio story generator. Describe a story idea — or paste your own text — and we write the story (if needed), produce cover art and narrate the whole thing. You get a JPG cover and a WAV audio file, ready to listen or share.
Can I paste my own text instead of generating a new story?
Yes. NewTales has two modes: start with an idea and let the AI write the story, or paste your own text — a chapter, a draft, a short story, a bedtime tale — and we only narrate it with matching cover art. Up to roughly forty minutes of audio narration has been tested so far; longer texts may still work but generation takes a few minutes more.
Who owns the audio story I create from my own text?
You do. The text you paste stays yours — we never claim ownership. The generated narration and cover art are licensed to you under our Terms of Service for personal or commercial use, subject to the usage policies of the underlying AI providers.
Which genres and languages are supported?
Five genres: horror, romance, fantasy, mystery and bedtime. Six languages: English, Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Serbian and Italian.
How long does a generation take?
From one to a few minutes depending on length. Short stories finish in about a minute; long ones take longer. Progress is shown live in the app.
Can I use the generated audiobooks commercially?
Yes. You get a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce and distribute the output for personal or commercial purposes, subject to our Terms of Service and the usage policies of the underlying AI providers.
What is the difference between Free and Plus?
Free tier: 10 saved-story slots, stories kept for 7 days. Plus tier: $5 / month, 5 bonus generation credits per month, 100 saved-story slots, permanent storage while subscribed. Credits are spent on generation; slots are spaces to save finished stories.
What AI models are used?
Stories are written by Anthropic's Claude. Cover images and primary narration use Google's Gemini. ElevenLabs is used as a fallback voice when Gemini is unavailable. Full sub-processor list is in our Privacy Policy.
Are my stories private by default?
Yes. Stories are private to your account and only accessible through signed, time-limited URLs. If you explicitly share a story, the public link becomes discoverable, but you can delete any story from your cabinet at any time.
Can I use my own Anthropic and Google API keys?
Yes. Visit the /create page and paste your own keys — they stay in your browser's local storage and never touch our server. In BYOK mode you don't consume our credits.
